Wash Day

Wash day, which I suppose was everyday since I saw and loved all the laundry hanging from windows throughout the towns we traveled.  Of all the laundry lines I photographed I finally got one with someone actually pegging the laundry.

The Famous Ponte di Rialto Bridge

The famous Ponte di Rialto Bridge in Venice, via water taxi ride.  We took several shots at night from on top the bridge, but this one was from the water taxi.  Still many images to process and sort.  I give you the after and the before image.  

As you can see, it was a beautiful day ~ much to remember.

Mud on the Tires

A few weeks ago I had a delightful day with my friend Shirina. We went to the Apple Hill area to see the orchards and stumbled upon this lovely rusty, crusty vintage flatbed truck. It was sitting outside the Boeger Winery ~ how could we resist?

Of course, I couldn't leave it looking so sad sitting at the bottom of the grassy hill ~ I felt it needed a little PhotoShop help.

In the Marina ~

~ the boats wait patiently.  I think they were as colorful as the hillside homes in Riomagiore.  Paintwork, textured, a little Art History Brushwork for touch up.  Again, I offer you the finished image along with the original photo.

I have the idea of a final image in my mind, but am still unable to grasp it fully with the digital brush ~ I will get there, though, with time and practice.

Fence Line

A beautiful day to be out walking ~ image taken while walking the 1/2 mile to the mailbox.  Hope your day includes some sunshine.

The Alcatraz Dining Hall

I was tired, my ankle hurt from downhill walking (I can't quite flex with toes pointed downward yet, but have no problem walking uphill ~ makes me wonder when I can wear high heels again) so I looked for a place to sit down.

This is the dining hall at Alcatraz. I sat on the floor and set my camera on the floor in front of me and snapped several shots ~ seemed like a good opportunity to practice my creative blur with people walking around. The floor was some sort of rubber that had cracked with age ~ disgusting, really, but the cracks caught my attention.

White Birch Trees ~ Version Two

Continued play with the same tree image, more paint, more texture, new look. I liked how the white paint could be painted under the sketched tree branches ~ a trick I learned from Marie Otero in a Journal Magic Class. 

Sunny and 60* today ~ just returned from a walk outdoors. Even if you are still burried under snow, I hope you had a bit of sun in your day.

White Birch Trees

A little free-form abstract work based on an image I took while walking the other day.

Texture, layers, paintwork all done in PhotoShop. In the foreground is a sad, almost non-existent fence ~ that is what caught my eye at first. The rest appeared as I processed the image with colors I liked that day.

Vintage Play

Seems I've used a lot of processing on this one:  LightRoom, PhotoShop, and Corel. Hope to do more in this style. Not only do I get to use the programs I love, I get to incorporate vintage photos, ephemera, brushes, and texture.

Change

Change is good, lest we grow stagnant.  So I am trying new things with the camera. This creative blur is not easy, but really fun.

I think I got lucky with this one, since I tossed out about 40 other images.
